After being offered a very nice job offer, I have relocated to Corpus Christi. Ahh, the beach, the ocean and so much to do and a new city to explore. I have joined a Tuesday night league here to keep up my practice. It is a nice center, all wood lanes and approaches. I found the approaches were good with a good amount of slide. Yet coming from all synthetics for so long, I find I am having to change my game up with lines I play, standing to start as these hook so much more than the synthetics I was on. The lanes are clean, just show age with worn areas. Yet, I know I'll get the hang of it with a little practice. I uploaded a few new pics and will have more soon. Good to be back on the lanes after being away from them for a month with getting started with the new job and moving.
End of Summer
I made an equipment change and gave Storm a try. So very impressive was the equipment. I have thrown Track and AMF well in the past, but wanted to try something different. As with alot of houses, this one loves to experiment with oil and patterns. I started with a low 180 average, then after I rec'd in my first storm balls, things turned around and I ended up finishing the summer city league 13 pins higher at a 193. I am anxious to see how the winter leagues go as I am in 3 leagues this winter.
League Champions
well our Wed. night league has come to an end. last week we had to sweep all 4 games in order to finish in 1st place for the 2nd half. tonight, we bowled the winners of the 1st half and what a night it was. though it is a 4 game format ( 3 games and 1 for totals ) it was a race to 3 games so whichever team won 3 games first was the champions. as there was only 10 pins difference between both teams in handicap, it was close every game. we won the first 2 games and neither one was won by more than 30 pins. then they won the 3rd game by less than 30 pins. last game we got back on track and won by over 120 pins. the guys we bowled are great and it was a joy to bowl them as they are great guys and we had alot of fun and kidding amoung each other in good clean fun. overall we were 3rd in total points for the entire season won, and 4th in sweeper standings tonight. I used my Terminal Velocity and Rdar Alert all night and they performed great. we decided we are all coming back next year to bowl together again.
season close to ending
well, as the winter leagues are close to ending I for one am glad as the long leagues can be tiring especially doing 2 or more of them a week. On our Wed. night league, we were in 2nd place and to finish in 1st for the 2nd half we were going to have to sweep all 4 games. we did just that but it was close every game and each game came down to the 8th through 10th frame. yet it was fun and a pleasure to bowl this team as always. so now this next Wed. we bowl the team who placed 1st in the 1st half for the league championship. they are only 10 pins difference than us on handicap so it should be a good game, just going to come down to who can make the better shots, but they are also a bunch of good guys that we bowl tournaments with so it will be fun as well. we are still in first place on Monday nights with 2 more weeks to go on it. point race is getting close on that night. on a different note, I want to give a shout out to our own Mr. Phil Bailey, one of our house pros and one of the nicest people you can ever hope to meet. Last week, on a Thursday senior league, he shot 2 300 games back to back. Then this past Monday night, he shot another one. that makes 3 300 games within 5 days of each other. Congrads Phil, you are the man!
Many Things
Well, we had a position round preview the other night. Our Wed. night team is in 2nd place and we had to bowl the 1st place team who is 3 games ahead of us. I shot a 212, 203 and a 221 for a 636 series for the night. We tied 2 games each and we will play them again this next Wed. and to take 1st, we must sweep all 4 games. We are still in fist place on Monday night with another 2 weeks to go in that one before our sweeper night. We leave in the morning to head to San Antonio to bowl State this weekend. Going to be a fun weekend with some good friends. Will update on how it went Monday when I get back.
